Event Content

ICS Program Introduction:
The Information and Computational Science (ICS) program is an interdisciplinary field that combines Computer Science and Technology with Mathematics. The goal is to cultivate high-level application-oriented professionals who possess knowledge in both computer science and mathematics, and are able to apply this knowledge to solve practical problems.

ICS Course Content and Features:
Core courses include Mathematical Analysis, Advanced Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Ordinary Differential Equations, Probability Theory, Mathematical Statistics, Operations Research, Numerical Analysis, C Programming, Java Programming, Data Structures, Database Principles, and more.

Study Recommendations for ICS:
In the first year, students should focus on foundational courses such as Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Algebra, and Programming to lay the groundwork for further study. In the second year, students should take mathematics courses related to computational science, such as Ordinary Differential Equations and Probability Theory. In the third year, students will study complex functions, partial differential equations, and also focus on postgraduate recommendation (for direct entry to graduate programs), entrance exams, and internships.

Introduction to ICS Graduate Research Directions and Career Paths:
Graduate research directions include fields such as Computer Science, Automation, Mathematics, Economics, and Management. Career paths are diverse, including roles in government agencies, research, and teaching in science and technology, education, as well as system development and maintenance in the IT industry, statistical surveys, information management, data analysis, and more.

Senior Students Q&A Session:
Through interactive sessions with senior students, freshmen can ask questions and clarify any doubts or confusion regarding the program.

Big Data Program Introduction:
The Data Science program aims to cultivate professionals with solid mathematical knowledge and comprehensive theoretical knowledge in data science and big data technology, equipped to handle practical application challenges.

Graduate Research Directions for Data Science:
The Data Science program is built on disciplines such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Technology, and Artificial Intelligence, training students in data collection, mining, cleaning, processing, storage, and analysis.
