XJTLU RIBA Part2 Sessions - Academic Tutors & Seniors' Experience of Studying Abroad
The presentation was divided into three main sections.1. Invite professional teachers who graduated from riba part2 to lead the participants to analyse the Part 2 courses of UCL and AA in depth by interpreting their works, sharing face examinations and experience in selection of preparatory courses; teach the participants how to make the transition from the traditional design projects of undergraduates to a training method and process of design thinking in overseas universities; share the guidance for future employment after studying and working overseas. Impact.2. We will have students from XJTLU who have applied to RIBA Part 2 in previous years share their personal experience of applying to study at XJTLU; as XJTLU students, how to plan their portfolio and language time appropriately, enrich the content of their portfolio, and choose the countries and institutions that are more suitable for themselves; we will also share some tips on how to apply.3) Our Academic and Application Director will share with students the academic direction, application trends and difficulty analysis of recent years in prestigious universities in the UK and the US, as well as the multi-dimensional display of portfolios from the perspective of the screening criteria. Founded in January 1818 in London, the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is an independent professional association representing civil engineering. Like its early membership, the majority of its current members are British engineers, but it also has members in more than 150 countries around the world. In 2008, its total membership stands at more than 80,000 In November 2011. Richard Coackley is the current President. ICE carries an aim all this while, simple enough, which is to “foster and promote the art and science of civil engineering”.As a professional body, it is committed to support and promote professional learning (both to students and existing practitioners), managing professional ethics and safeguarding the status of engineers, and representing the interests of the profession in dealings with government, etc. It sets standards for membership of the body; works with industry and academia to progress engineering standards and advises on education and training curricula. It is such an important body that nowadays civil engineers, all around the world, are recognizing ICE as an institution to be joined must for a secured, brighter and better future for their professional careers.Under the guidance of ICE (also her local Branch), there will be a Student Chapter to be established, by which the student members can gain more knowledge and experience through innovations and international exposure in Civil Engineering. Students at XJTLU will be able to enlarge their network up to international level, including professional engineers worldwide. De facto, ICE Student Chapter is expected to shape and guide the student members to meet the global demand and challenges in every aspect of Civil Engineering.The formation of ICE Student Chapter in Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is believed to be an important step in making best professionals of this university. This breakthrough shall strongly drive students to uphold new learning stages in the professional body of Civil Engineering locally and internationally. Establishment of this Student Chapter would facilitate students to start their professional training at undergraduate level. ICE shares knowledge with their members and provide useful information to the students for research-based projects. Students will benefit from becoming student members of ICE and get connected to the best civil engineers across the world. ICE Student Chapter will be one of its kinds offering in-depth knowledge, hands-on experience worldwide conferences and seminars to the students members.
