Swing Dance Dress Code & Etiquette
Attire Guidelines:
Swing dance attire blends vintage and modern elements. Men can opt for casual options like graphic tees with trousers, collared shirts for formality, or full suits for a polished look. Avoid stilettos (risk of injury), overly revealing outfits, shorts, heavy boots, or gym wear. Prioritize comfort and style while respecting the dance’s roots.
Etiquette Tips:
Politely invite partners; if declining, refrain from accepting other offers until the song ends. Maintain personal hygiene for close interactions. Apologize if you bump or step on someone. Avoid eating/drinking on the dance floor to keep the area clean. Solo dancers are common-relax, enjoy the music, and stay off your phone to increase chances of being invited. Embrace the lively, inclusive spirit of swing dancing!

You’ve seen swing dance in classic films: The Great Gatsby, La La Land, Pulp Fiction, Singin' in the Rain... Always paired with jazz rhythms and retro flair.
🎷 Swing dance flourished in 1920s-40s America, embodying the glitz of the "Roaring Twenties" and offering solace during the Great Depression. Born in Black communities, it features dynamic rhythms and diverse styles.
💃🏻 Swing dancers embrace spontaneity- improvising to the music while creating magical connections with partners.
